Hi guys, it's DINESH here in this videoi'm going to be showing you guys how to start a blog in 10 simple stepsso in this video i'm not really going to be going through like giving you tips onhow to start a blog and sort of give you ideas on what nicheto pick for your blog it's mainly going to be a practicalguide where i'm going to show you guys how to startand sort of build out your blog right so for example i show you guys how to getyour domain name install wordpress and sort of install atheme and customize that theme to anything that you guys want so forexample i show you guys how to add in a logo how to add inimages how to add in your blog post how to add in your sidebar and customize thelook of your blog okay so what i've done is i've alsocreated a resource page so there's a link in the descriptionand that's going to take you to this page over here how to start a blog in 10simple steps so the first step to starting your blogis to get your domain name and hosting so your domain name is just basicallylike your website name or your blog name

                                                             

.comand hosting is basically like where you storeyour blogs files or your website files on the internet so thatyou can you know create your blog and people can access your website andthings like that so for example like your domain name isyour address and your hosting is basically your land sothe land that we can actually create a blog on top ofokay then i'll show you guys how to install wordpress after thatso what we're going to do is scroll down and we're going to click on getdiscount hosting so if you do actually use that link and purchase through thatlink then i'll get a small commission forthat sale and that basically just helps me to create free tutorials for you guysand give you guys a discount as well so we're going to be using hostgator forthis tutorial now obviously there are other hosting companies which you canuse

 but Hostgator is really affordable andthey've also got live chat support which is great for beginnersso over here we've got three different plans now what i generally recommend isjust choosing the hatchling plan because you can always upgrade later onso click on buy now and over here we're going to enter inyour domain name so basically this could be like your nameor your blog name.com for this specific tutorial i'm just going to do like starta blog one two three four and we're gonna clickon the outside over here now sometimes if that's not availableyou have to be a little bit more creativeand then once you have found it then it will sayprimary domain and free over here so we're going to scroll downand for the domain privacy i recommend it but it's not necessarybasically what that does is just hides your personal details frompublic view and basically when you're starting like a new business or bloga lot of marketing companies might want to contact you and offer you likeservices and stuff like that so you might want to check that to avoida lot of spam so for the billing cycle i recommend youknow choosing 12 months or more that way you're going to lock in abigger discount but it's completely up to you for this tutorial i'm just goingto choose 12 months and over here all you need to do is justput in like your email address and your password and also here enter inyour billing information as well as your credit card details oryou can also pay via paypal so we're going to scroll down over hereto the additional services so what i recommend is just uncheckingthese

 because you can actually do this for freewith some few plugins and you can always upgrade to theseum later on as well so we're going to scroll down to hereso for the coupon code um you can enter in bonus codeand that's going to give you the biggest discount and also again if you do use itthen i'll receive a small commission for that saleand i really appreciate it as well because it helps support these videosokay so over here just click on your red and greed and then we're going to clickon checkout now so hostgator is just setting up ouraccounts and we're just going to wait a few minutes okay so over here i'm just going toscroll down over here and click on skip okay so over here we can click on getstarted and that's basically going to install wordpress directly onto ourwebsite okay so sometimes your hosting providerwill actually automatically install it and you'll get a temporary domain nameright so this over here is your temporary domain name and youcan click onto that and can start building your websiteso hostgator is sort of working on the backend to sort of connect your domainname with your hosting account so they'll give you this temporarydomain and you can start building and creating your website okay so if youdon't actually see that screen then i'll show you guys how to do it the manualway so what you need to do is basically justlook for installing wordpress so you can click on install wordpress over hereor you can navigate to marketplace and then scroll down to one clickinstalls so sometimes it does change but the onlything that you need to look for is wordpress so look for that and herewe're going to select our domain okay for your directory leave that emptyand that's really important so click on nextand for your blog title here you want to just name like your blogso for example hogan's blog so 

you can change this later onand your username is what we're going to log into wordpress withso set that in put in your first name and last nameas well as your email that we can use for this accountokay here we're just going to check that and we're going to click on installokay so that's complete now so we can actually log into wordpress so what youwant to do is you want to copy this passwordcopy it to your clipboard and paste it somewhere on your computer keep it safebut i'll show you guys how to change the password later as wellso what you can do is they'll also send you the installation detailsbut we're going to click on login and that's going to take us to the wordpresslogin page okay which is over here so if you everwant to navigate to your login page we can just delete the top over here andit'll just be yourdomain.com and then it's going to bewp dash admin and enter okay so what youwant to do is probably just bookmark that ontoyour browser so that you can log in anytime so paste that password in and then click on login all right socongratulations we've installed wordpress so this is the back end ofyour website and where you control your whole entire blog so there's quitea lot of things popping up um the first thing that you might see isto update your wordpress version so 

if you do see an updateclick on please update now and we just need to update to the latest version sothat your wordpress is all up to date andyou've got the latest software so we can scroll down okay it does sayyou have the latest version and that's all cool and if we go back tothe dashboard section now if you do see something like youneed to upgrade your php version we can go back over here and we can goto launch cpanel and i'll show you guys how to changeyour php version to the latest version just in case you want to do thatokay so you can scroll down scroll down scroll downto over here so we've got the multi php managerso it's under software click into that and what you need to do is select hereand then change it to php r74 which is 7.4 and then click on applyokay and then you can just come here onto your blog and refresh your page andyou should be good to go so there's a lot of things popping upover here what i generally like to do is click on screen options and just disableeverything um and just clear things up a little bitokay um let's clear this thing up as wellright and then we're going to click on plugins and we just want to deactivateall the sort of plugins they install by defaultonto our blog so let's go over here select all andthen we're going to deactivate

 it okay so it just gets rid of all theclutter a little bit and it just makes things a little bitmore simpler okay so what we can do now is we can goto settings and click on permalinks and what we wantto do is we want to ensure that the post nameis set so basically what this does is if you create a post or if you create apage then the title is going to be includedin the url so normally it will be like this like pequals one two three and that's not good for search enginesyou want it to be post name always so let's click on save changesand then if you want to change your password you can go to users or usersand click on edit and then we can scroll down to thebottom and click on generate password so what i'm going to do is generate apassword that i remember because the one that they gave me was a little bit toolong and i can't remember that one so update profile and then that's just the basic settingsi'm going to add it onto my browser as well so i cankeep that all saved and let's go to visit our websiteand this is what your blog looks like by default right so what we're going to dois step number two where we're going to install a themeso we can go back to our website over 

here so what we're going to do is clickon download theme so let's download that onto yourcomputer and then let's click on save and then the file should look somethinglike this right so if it automatically unzips into a folderthen what you need to do is you need to right click that folder and compress itback into the zip file so let's go back over here and let's goback over here and we're going to go to appearance andclick on themes so let's click on add newand then we're going to click on upload themes choose fileand then we're going to upload this theme over here so themify.ultra.zipand open and then install now so this is the theme that i use and it's sort oflike a multi-purpose theme so you can literally create any type ofblog that you want so i personally use this for my own sortof website over here and you can create anything you can also add like a shop oranything like that as well so once that is done let's click onactivate and that's going to activate the sort ofappearance the new appearance for our blog so let's click on close forskins and demos and 

we can hover over here and visit oursite and then this is what our new sort ofblog will look like so step number three is to add in newpages and also create a new menu so we're going to hover over here and onthe toolbar we're going to scroll down to pageand click on that let's click on close for that so as you can see we can't seethe wordpress dashboard area so over here on the top right we canclick on the three little dots just click on that and click on fullscreen and deactivate it right so you can always activate itbut i personally like this one and for the title we're gonna put in homeso to create our home page and publish so i'm going to deselect alwayspre-published checks right because i just want to click itonce and publish it so click on publish okay so that page has been published soover here we can navigate to the plus again and click on page andthen add a new page we can also click on pages over here onthe left and this is where we can manage all the pagesso what i'm going to do is just delete all these ones that they're pre-createdfor us right select all and then let's justmove that to trash okay so i'm going to add in a few morepages so add new and you can create as many pages thatyou need but it's going to be a little bit different from post which i'll showyou guys later so about and publishand once that is done let's go and publish a new pageso this one can be our contact page and then click on publish okayso let's go back to our site over here on the frontand this is our new pages so what we're going to dois go to customize and then we're going to click on backover here and then we're going to go to home page settingsand we're going to set a static page so this basically means that uh the homepage 

that we created is just going to be our domain url okayso just make sure to set that in over here and click on publish and then let's close that for now so iwant to show you guys what i mean by thatso if we click on the home page it's going to bejust our domain.com rather than domain.com and then forward slash homeso make sure you set that in properly so let's go back and we can customize themenu over here as well let's click on back and then click onmenus and create a new menu so we're going toset in just a main navigation menu so main nav and we wantto select main navigation here and then click on nextand then click on add items and we're going to select the pages thatwe want to display in her new menu so we're going to do the about page andthe contact page and depending on what pages you want to displayfor example if we have different categories later you can add that inlater and you can also add in your differentpost later as well okay so we can just close that for now and just leave thatas is and then click on publish so if you just see like the three linesover here and that's mainly because it's showing the mobile menuand we can just zoom out of our screen a little bit and that's gonna show us thewhole entire menu over here okay let's click on close sostep number four is to customize your layoutsso

 i want to change the layout of how this blog looksso i want to remove the title and the sidebar over hereand i want to show you guys how to change the header designs and thingslike that so let's head back to our dashboard andi'm just going to close this because we don't need this for nowand just close everything here let's go to themify ultrathemify settings and then let's click on default layoutsso here we can change the default post layout and also the pagelayouts so generally i just open it in a new tabso i can see what we're doing and let's click on default page layoutand for the page sidebar we want to selectno page sidebar and delete this so let's go back and select no sidebarhide the titles as well and then we can just click on saveand then refresh our page and then we're pretty much good to goright so for your header design let's go back over here let's click on themesettings and let's click on theme appearance andi'm going to change the header design over here to the firstone called header block and let's click on save and let's do arefresh okay awesome so

 if you want to sort ofremove this tagline and things like that you can also go back over here and youcan sort of adjust the settings so for example i want toexclude the tagline let's select it and let's click on saveand that's going to disappear okay so for your footer design we canalso change and edit that as well so let's go back over here and we canchange the footer here so let's go back up here and then we canclick on the first one the footer block and let's go and clickon save let's do a refresh over here and that'sgood to go let's remove this one over here as wellso let's head back over here scroll down to the very bottom and clickon footer text and for the footer text 2 let's hidethat and save and then let's refresh our page and thenthat's looking awesome so possibly i do want to remove this oneas well so let's go back and do one last thing because i want tomake things perfect um let's exclude this site logo for thefooter and let's hit on save step number fiveso i'm going to show you guys how to add in a blog post sort of similar to thiswhere you have your title and you have textand you've also got images so let's head back over hereand add in a post hover over new and click on postinstead of pages so click on post and here we're going to add in a blogtitle so for example um it could be like how to adda blog post all right and then i'm just going to click on publishright and that's going to publish the blog post onto our websiteso i do want to show you guys how to add in the categories as well soon the right here we can click on categories and then click on add newcategory so

 let's just say for example this islike in the travel so we just put in traveli might just put in capital t over there and add newand then i'm going to deselect the uncategorized and scroll down to tagsso whatever you're talking about within the blog post let's say for example it'sa travel blog about bali and then we can click on commaand then we're gonna do maybe luxury resorts all right so this is to help thesearch engines find you and things like thatso just add that in for now and for the featured image we can click on thatand set a featured image so click on that so click on select filesand we're going to click on this folder here and i've already prepared someimages and i might leave it on my resource pageso you can download and follow along so i'm just going to open that andupload all my images onto wordpress and then i'm just goingto select this image over here post number one and click on setfeatured image and then we can just update that postso over here we can click on view post now sometimes that disappearsso what you can do is you can click on permalink over hereand you'll see the url that you can click on so you can click on that toview the post to see what it looks like currentlyand don't worry i'll show you guys how to customize how it looks laterso this is our blog post so what we can do is add in some textso we can just click on turn on builder on the top or over hereand i'll show you guys how to add in the text some imagesand a video so 

here on the left is in modules and you can click it and drag itand just click it onto the side then we can scroll up over here and ifyou hover over here you'll see that you've got the row where you can dropinto the modules so let's grab the text module and just drop it into the rowlike that and over here we can just put in textso for example i'm just going to go to lorem ipsum so lipson.comand generate some dummy text so let's just say for examplelet's copy that onto our clipboard and come back andpaste that in over there and then we've got text right soif you want to add let's say a heading then what we could do is click on donewe could drop in like another text module and let's do aheading so let's grab some more text over heremaybe this one copy that onto our clipboard paste thatin and i want to set this to heading 2. so on each page you should always haveum only one heading one and generally this will be your heading one fontand then the rest can be like heading two or three so that's heading tworight and then we can click on done let's say you wanna add an image we justlook for image drop it below and then we um find theimage that we want to upload let's say for example this one over hereand insert and then we've got our image so we can click on done and if you wantto add like a video a youtube video we can also drop in avideo module over here and just drop it below and wecan go to youtube if you do want to upload videos uploadit to youtube first and then what you can do is just copy the linkdirectly from the top oops pause that video copy that and then come back over here and thenwhat we could do is just paste in that video and that's going tochange right so 

we can also zoom out the page alittle bit or the post and we can move things around like dragit and drop it like that and we can also zoom back in a littlebit and let's say you want to add some padding we can alsohover over here you'll see the blue we just drag it and addmaybe some spacing okay which is called padding20 pixels and i think that's fine and that's looking pretty goodright so if you want to link it to like another pagesomewhere on your website so we're going to click into the modulelet's say we want to link this text over hereokay so select the text and click on the insert linkbutton click on that and just paste in the url thereso let's say for example you have an affiliate link or you want to link toanother page or another blog page we can just copy over thatlink so let's say we want to link it to herejust copy the url come back over here and justpaste that in and then we can also click on link optionsand if you've actually created like a lot of blog posts then you can actuallyfind it over here as well just by searching over here so i'm goingto open it in a new tab and update right so that's going to adda link within our blog post so you can add as many links as you needwe're going to click on done and that should be good to go so i'mgoing to click on save and i'm going to add in just two moreblog posts and then
